The ten read-aloud stories in this collection are based on real stories the author has heard from children and adults in the course of her work touring schools and story-telling on the topic of bullying. They are based on observations, interviews and personal experience. Each story is told from the point of view of a young person—a bully or a victim—and explores a scenario in which someone is bullied, how the damaging situation is recognized for what it is, and how it is resolved. Each story is followed by discussion questions and activities. A CD is included with the book, with three stories told by Porter complete with backup musicians before a live audience. The stories deal frankly with contemporary issues in language your students will recognize as their own. This resource is highly recommended for schools planning or implementing anti-bullying programs.
