Here is another handbook that would be a great resource for teachers responsible for helping students write well. The author has been a teacher of literature, grammar and composition for 20 years, and used her experience in the classroom to develop a method of teaching grammar, which she calls Practical Grammar, designed to simplify the learning of grammar. This book identifies the most common grammar information one needs to know, beginning with chapters on what is Essential and moving on to Important, Helpful, Reference, Interesting, and finally, Only For Grammar Lovers. The author speaks directly to the student, so the book could be used as a textbook or as a reference work for teacher planning. The sequence of lessons in the book provide a good outline for a unit on grammar which focuses on the most useful information for clear and correct writing.
