By now everyone has heard of Al Gore’s groundbreaking documentary, which was designed as a wake-up call about the issue of global warming and its consequences for this planet and its people. He wrote a book of the same name, which has been adapted for children and teens. Full colour photos and diagrams are paired with Gore’s simple, no-nonsense text to present the history of global warming and the present day situation to young readers. This is a very accessible book with lots of photos and short blocks of text that are easily read and digested. It is also large enough (open, it measures 24 x 40 cm) that two children could sit together to read and discuss. This is a valuable teaching tool for an important topic that needs to be addressed in every school. Win a copy of this book! See Editorial, page 3 for details.
