Johann Sebastion Bach (1685 – 1750) was a prolific German composer and organist who is considered one of the most famous and influential composers of all time. He wrote compositions for choir, orchestra and solo instruments, refining and enriching the Baroque style of music of his time. This theatrical presentation in DVD format has a very charming and sensitive Mr. Bach visiting a young girl (Elizabeth) in Bethlehem, USA, where she is struggling to practise Bach’s Minuet in G on the piano. Bach and Elizabeth spend the day together, with Bach telling stories of his life and his music, and Elizabeth growing in her understanding and appreciation of his musical contribution to the world. Included is footage of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem and the Bach Festival Orchestra performing various works. This film may not keep every class of school children engaged for its full 54 minutes, but teachers may find ways to use it with interested students or could show segments, interrupted by discussion or related activities. Available through Amazon, Indigo/Chapters and other retail outlets.
